This year, the Pasadena Prof/Promo and Edu Platform Meetings 2016 were held at the stunning venue: ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California and tackled the issues of National Design Policy, Membership, Raising Professional Standards and Curriculum Development among other workshops, discussion forums and roundtables.

in memoriam of Giancarlo Iliprandi (1925-2016)

in memoriam

ico-D regrets to announce the passing of former Icograda President Giancarlo Iliprandi (Milan, Italy 15 March 1925–15 September 2016). Mr. Iliprandi was President of Icograda from 1991–1993, serving as President Elect from 1989–1991 and Vice President from 1987–1989. Born 15 March 1925, Iliprandi was one of Italy's leading graphic artists who dedicated over fifty years to an international legacy of graphic design and visual communication.

swedish members advocate for better social insurance policy for visual creators

The impact of freelance artists and designers getting fair access to social insurance could be ground-breaking. Recently, ico-D Member Svenska Tecknare, along with other representatives of the visual artists and designers in Sweden, published an article in the Swedish daily newspaper by Dagens Nyheter, calling for an extended inquiry by the Social Insurance Commission concerning the creative sector and social security benefits.

ico-D programmes: Chengdu educational project

ico-D programmes

Organised by ico-D and the Sichuan Economic and Information Committee (SEIC), two ico-D educational Members, Chengdu University of Technology (China) and Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art (Israel) have launched an exchange aimed at supporting Chinese designers and Chinese design universities. The goal is to help the Chinese industry better understand how to best furnish socially conscious design in the future, and the project will act as a model for expanding to additional Chinese cities.
