03 New Member story The African Institute of the Interior Design Professions (IID) is the only professional body representing the Interior Design industry in South Africa throughout Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern and Western Cape. In 2007 the IID was borne out of a merger between Design South Africa (DSA) and the South African Guild of Interior Designers (SAGID) to protect, monitor, and grow the Interior Design profession. Read more	04 Member initiative Originally conceived of by designer Laura Moretti, and further developed in collaboration with designers Cinzia Ferrara and Daniela Piscitelli, the aim of the Women in Design Award (AWDA) is to understand and promote the little-known universe of women working in visual communication design and to investigate the languages, poetics and different approaches to graphic design, which otherwise would not be brought to light. More info	05 Press release Following a successful pilot meeting in Montréal on 21 October 2017, ico-D has partnered with Beijing Design Week to conduct, what has been officially named the ico-D “Special Meeting” in Beijing on 21-22 September 2018. The Special Meeting format is a platform for entities promoting and supporting design in their regions including design weeks, design biennales, design museums and design cities. 06 ico-D events We celebrated this year with partners all over the world: Casa Wabi (Mexico), Design Exchange (Canada), Open Design Cape Town (South Africa), MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Mumedi (Museo Mexicano del Diseño, Mexico). 09 Adobe Design Achievement Awards The second session of the 2018 Adobe Design Achievement Awards is now open. Submit your entries before the final deadline of 4 June 2018. Read more	10 AGM announcement ico-D is pleased to announce that the ico-D Annual General Meeting (AGM2018) will take place in Beijing China, on 19 September 2018 at 15:30. The AGM2018 will be held in conjunction with the Platform Meeting and hosted by Central Academy of Fine Arts of China (CAFA).
